Recap: Vancouver Island Wedding Industry Awards 2018

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who contributed to our very successful 2018 wedding season. We’re so happy to have WON the Best Outdoor Ceremony Venue category, Best Collaborative Styled Shoot, and were named a finalist for Best Unique Wedding Venue!
Some special shoutouts to those who made those weddings possible:
For our Best Outdoor Ceremony Venue win, we were thrilled to work with Beckey and Nick, whose easygoing attitudes and organization in the leadup to their wedding made the day run so smoothly. Photographer Melissa Styba captured the late summer light so beautifully.

For the Best Collaborative Styled Shoot win, the BIGGEST of thank yous to Bliss Gowns & Events in Nanaimo who pulled together such a stellar group of vendors for the shoot and submitted this award on all of our behalf. Shawne wasn’t able to attend the awards but she was definitely there in spirit!

We were so thrilled be recognized as finalist for our first year submitting to Best Unique Wedding Venue! The vision that Gabrielle and Sylvain had was so perfectly brought to life by Kim Solecki’s (Borrowed & Blue Events) organization and passion. Attention all couples: more pizza party weddings, please!

Another big thank you to our summer Events Assistant Laura Bull, who has worn many hats so far in her short career in the wedding industry, most notably at FLEURtacious. Her floral experience was an unexpected gift this summer and has taught us to always have a stash of zip ties handy! We wish her all the best with her post-secondary education and can’t wait to see where she turns her talent and energy next.
As many others have stated, we are so lucky to have the board members of the Vancouver Island Wedding Industry Awards steering our ship. Thank you to the event organizers and all sponsors for putting together such a stunning night — it was such a treat to be welcomed to the Songhees Wellness Centre as it was transformed into a shimmering wonderland under the Salish sea! Congratulations to all winners and finalists and all the best for a restful and rejuvenating holiday season.
