The Urban Garden

The Pacific Horticulture College class of 2013 began the Urban Garden with an intention to demonstrate that growing an edible garden can be accessible to everyone.

In a small setting, it is possible to achieve a degree of self-sustainability using recycling, reclaimed, and repurposed (RRR) materials.

Since 2013, the Urban Garden continues to be maintained by each year's PHC class, and while its main purpose stays the same, the space has evolved over time and the Urban Garden continues to grow and change with creativity and resourcefulness.

Inspired and designed by PHC students, the Urban Garden remains a place where sustainability, yield, and creative fun are valued – and above all, a place for learning. Our aim is to encourage people and families from all economic and social backgrounds to develop skills in self-sustainability, particularly in an urban setting.
