Did you know that Victoria has a modified Mediterranean climate? Our hot and dry summers with wet winters are characteristic of the Mediterranean and similar places such as California, Central Chile, South Africa, and South Western Australian. For gardens, that means that drainage is key to plant survival.
Foliage, colour, and texture are key elements of this display. The Mediterranean Garden balances drought tolerance and low maintenance to preserve itself through winters. It is the backdrop to most wedding ceremonies held in the Gathering Place. As the older plantings need replacing, we are planning renovations to this garden over the next few years.
