Fairy Gardens

These gardens are fun to create … even parents enjoy making them and here is a chance to participate with your child in a morning mini garden making session! We will make these take-home gardens for indoor/outdoor use, using some natural materials gathered from the garden. Adults are welcome to stay or drop off. *All materials are provided.*

Bonsai for Young Gardeners

These precious plants have a story to tell. They have been created over many decades, originally in
China and Japan. Learn about this amazing history and art form with our local Bonsai expert Mark
Paterson in our beautiful Bonsai Garden at HCP. Then begin the process of creating your own bonsai to
take home. Plants for bonsai are provided. Bring along your own garden gloves if you prefer (some will
be available).

Date: Saturday, May 4 2019

Ages: 8 years – 16 years


Do you enjoy the natural fragrances from the garden as you harvest fresh herbs? Would you like to create some personal use products for home. Using fresh and dried herbs along with essential oils, we will make some bath balms, salts and
other products with just a few garden and household ingredients. *All materials are provided.

Pro-d Day camps

Junior Master Gardeners Day Camp

Have you ever picnicked with a frog? Watched a pair of mallard ducks float quietly down the stream while feeding? Snacked on a fairy garden ground cover? These and more experiences await you in our gardens during Pro D Day Camps this spring. Over the past weeks we have seen natures influence of the gardens in these and many other ways. Join me for a day of gardening, exploration, garden crafts and more in The Gardens at HCP.

Dates: Friday, April 12 & Friday, May 10, 2019
Times: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Fee: $38/child
Ages: 5.5 years (school age) – 12 years



Garden Club is an open concept learning opportunity for children and youth of all ages who enjoy gardening and exploring the out of doors. Each month we meet to a assess our plot and participate in seasonable gardening with lots of hands-on activities. Our tasks range from creating Lasagna Gardens and container planters to seeding, weeding, and mulching. There is no end to the possibilities!

Club Dates: 9:30 am – 11:30 am (Saturdays 2019 – Mar 2, April 6, May 4, June 1, Sept 7, Oct 5, Nov 2, Dec 7)
Cost: $10/2 hr session
Ages: All ages welcome! Children under 6 need to be with a supervising/participating adult



Join us for a week of hands-on gardening, garden crafts, and activities. Get to know more about growing plants, food production, harvesting and using plant material while experiencing our many gardens at Horticulture Centre of the Pacific! This camp is great for the avid gardeners who cannot get enough time in the garden!

Dates: March 18 – 22 and March 25 – 29, 2019

JMG (Junior Master Gardener) GARDEN CAMP (full day)

This is a hands-on gardening and nature program, that inspires us to be the best land stewards we can.
In our own JMG garden, we learn to grow our own food crops and support the various ecosystems with
help from Victoria Master Gardener Association members.

Dates: July 8 – 12
Times: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 6 – 12 years
Fees: $180/child (2+ siblings at 10% discount)

JMG (Junior Master Gardener) GARDEN ARTS CAMP (half day)

Join us for some gardening that includes planting, maintenance, harvesting and craft some garden art for your home and garden using a variety of mediums in this inspiring outdoor atmosphere … The Gardens at HCP!

Times: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Ages:   6 – 12 years
Fees:    $95/child (no sibling discount)

JMG (Junior Master Gardener) ECO-friendly CAMP (full day)

It is easy to make your own teas, bath salts, paper, tote bags and more. Together we will learn about plants known as herbs and explore how to use them and other household materials and reusables to create a zero waste lifestyle.

Dates: August 6 – 9 (4 day camp due to BC DAY)
Times: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Ages: 6 – 12 years

STORIES IN THE GARDEN is a bi-weekly storytime designed around a theme that explores subjects such as gardens, bugs, and nature through stories and related crafts. Children under 5 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Dates: Mondays: April 29, May 13, May 27, June 10
Time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Cost: $5/child, free admission for an accompanying adult
Ages:2+ years (designed for younger children, however, siblings are welcome.

Host a children’s birthday in The Gardens at HCP for an exciting nature experience. Choose from one of our popular themed parties, (Garden Fairies or Nature Habitats) or let us work with you to create a unique event with another theme.

2-hour booking for up to 12 children is $150, including a 30-minute nature walk/hunt, 30-minute craft/activity, and 1 hour to host your family/friends.
