Ed Chwyl
Past Chair
The Chwyl family moved from Calgary to Victoria in 2001, upon Ed's retirement after 30 years in the oil and gas industry. While in Calgary, Ed's volunteer work included serving as chairman of the Petroleum Society, chairman of the Calgary YMCA, and chairman of the inaugural capital campaign to build Webber Academy, now the top ranked private school in Alberta. Ed currently serves as a board member of Kaisen Energy Corp, a private oil and gas company in Calgary. Since moving to Victoria, he has served as chairman of the Victoria Conservatory of Music of which he is an honorary lifetime member, as president of the Victoria Master Gardening Association, as president of the Holy Cross Catholic Parish, and is a member of the Finance Committee of the Catholic Diocese of Victoria. Ed was awarded the Vancouver Island Generosity of Spirit Award in 2014 for his philanthropic work and volunteerism in the community. With five children spread across North America, Ed and his wife, Mary, intend to do a fair bit of travelling in the future.
