Season: mid February/ early March to late November/ mid December, weather dependent
Salary: $25-$29/hour starting depending on experience

Job Description
The primary function of the landscape gardener is to assist with maintenance and installation of clients' gardens.

General Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintenance of residential gardens; weeding, deadheading, watering, pruning, line trimming
- Spring and fall cleanups; transplanting and division of shrubs and perennials, raking, mulching
- Planting and installing gardens
- Light equipment operation; leaf blower, line trimmer, pole pruner, hedge trimmer

Qualifications and Requirements
- A good attitude and desire to learn is essential
- A passion for horticulture, plants and gardening
- Completion of horticultural training is an asset, but not required
- Plant ID skills are an asset
- Ability to work independently and enjoy working in a team
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Professionalism when communicating with clients
- Be comfortable and prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- High school degree or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license is an asset

Physical Requirements:
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Details of employment
- You must have your own transportation to get yourself to the meeting spot or to job sites (within the Cowichan Valley - Mill Bay to Chemainus).
- You are required to provide your own rain gear, general purpose work gloves, steel toed boots, pruners, and trowel/ digging knife.
