Hellebore Sunday – March 4th, 2018
For the Staff and Volunteers at the Gardens at HCP, a new year means looking forward to the start of the hellebores in bloom. Even before any tenacious bulbs start to shoot up the understated hellebores reveal their glory. Rather than a promise of spring, the hellebores show the beauty that can come during winter.
Hellebores are a great plant for shade that the deer don’t eat! What other plant is deer resistant, evergreen, shade tolerant, has stunning flowers and blooms 3-4 months a year?
Come see us on Hellebore Sunday 4 March from 12 – 3 pm and walk around the gardens. We offer free admission during plant sales. The Gardens at HCP is home to the spectacular Doris Page Winter Garden and we can thank Doris Page for bringing Hellebores to the Victoria area to demonstrate the potential for winter gardening in this part of Canada.
Hellebores pictured here will be for sale.
