The Urban Garden

An Accessible and Edible Garden

Created in 2013, Pacific Horticulture College students created the Urban Garden to demonstrate than an edible garden can be accessible to everyone. Since its inception, the Urban Garden remains a place where sustainability, yield, and creativity are valued. Like The Gardens, it is a place for learning. The Urban Garden aims to encourage people and families from all social and economic backgrounds to develop skills in self-sustainability even in urban areas.

In a small setting, this garden displays that it is possible to achieve a degree of self-sustainability using recycled, reclaimed, and repurposed (RRR) materials. As we continue to look to densify, gardens like the Urban Garden promote people’s creativity to connect with the garden even in smaller spaces.
