If you are a hands-on gardener hesitant to prune small trees and shrubs for fear of injuring or undesirably altering the appearance, this course with certified arborist Ryan Senechal is designed to give you the skill you need. In 2 sessions, basic pruning techniques will be reviewed and applied to advanced pruning strategies to encourage desirable structure, reduced maintenance & long term plant health. Your confidence and comfort will grow as you observe and practice field examples of pruning successes and common mistakes. Bring your secateurs. Class size will be limited to ensure individual instruction. Proof of vaccination and masks required. This workshop will be entirely outdoors, so dress for the weather.

Originally educated in Urban Arboriculture at Humber College in Toronto, Ryan has more recently been active as an instructor of industrial Arboriculture subjects for professionals and through community education in addition to his duties as a Municipal field Arborist. His work in urban tree care, instruction, public speaking and urban forestry has taken him across Canada, England, and throughout the Pacific northwest. Ryan’s course presentation typically blends pertinent theory linked to field observation and group discussion, leading to ample opportunities for field practice to improve confidence and comfort.
