Doris Page Winter Garden

This woodland garden has a full range of light exposures from full sun to full shade.

Sponsored by the Victoria Horticultural Society (VHS) and named in honour of Doris Page, the Winter Garden was created in 1985 to showcase winter gardening’s potential. Many of the original plants came from Doris Page’s own Saanich garden and have built this garden into being unique not to mention world class.

The Winter Garden displays a myriad of Hellebores, some of the first from Doris Page. The Hellebores were her special passion which she introduced to the Victoria area. Key elements in this garden include coloured berries, barks, and stems, branch structures and forms, and coloured foliages, flowers, and fragrances. Many things one would not expect to find in winter!
