HYPERTUFA FOR KIDS

This hands-on craft takes time and some patience and is SO much fun! We will begin by making our mix together and using some recycled containers for our forms. Come dressed for making a mess and learn how to make these super simple light weight and durable planters. It takes weeks for these to be ready for planting so remember we will be getting them made in this session.

Miniature gardens are a magical way to bring plants into our lives! We will start with containers and outdoor plants to create mini gardens to enjoy for years to come. These gardens will allow for child play and rearranging and can be added to existing gardens or areas of your yard or deck space. We will also explore a few themes as part of our design using natural materials collected in our very own garden pathways during an introductory wander. We often have parents/family want to join us. See the information below to participate with us! *All younger children, 5/6 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (no fee) to assist with their project. If you would like to make a fairy garden of your own, please see the additional registration below.

HELPING HANDS GARDEN WORKSHOP

We LOVE succulents and these mini gardens are the cutest! These hands are constructed and planted up in our session making it a great gift giving idea that is easy to make. Wear your gardening clothes and be ready to get a bit messy and have some FUN creating these mini succulent gardens!!

These gardens are very popular and so easy to create. Learn about the soil, spacing, using natural materials and top dressings for these sweet garden additions. The succulent gardens are perfect to add into an existing border, step, or other place needing some interest. They also make very cute gifts and are a bit addictive once you start. Bring along an adult to join you in the fun. All supplies are included.

MAKING YOUR OWN BOTANICAL GIFTS

Do you know a child who loves to harvest from the wild and the garden? Making bath salts & teas, body and face treatments or even lip balms are a great way to learn more about the plants in our yards and their benefits to our lives. Join us as we explore the herbal and floral botanicals in the garden and create lots of take away products to enjoy with friends and family. These are lots of fun for hosting a Friends Spa.

JUNIOR MASTER GARDENERS DAY CAMPS

JMG KID’S GARDEN CLUB

This MONTHLY program takes participants through the growing season from seed starting through the various plant uses for food, self-care, art, and seasonal décor. There is always something to taste, observe, build and weed while gardening and we do it all together!! This program is a great way to provide extra outdoors time for those who love gardening and there are always seeds, plants and other created items to share for use in your home or gardens.

MONTHLY TOPICS: March – seed starting, April – transplants, May – summer crops, June – succession planning, September – harvesting, October – winter crops

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY CAMPS 2020

These Pro-D Day Camps are filled with garden activities both in and out of the garden. We use sustainable practices to grow our own food and flower crops throughout the year. The campers learn to prepare, plan, plant, harvest, and maintain a garden while including native pollinators and building awareness of the ecosystems that support our project. This hands-on camp is a good introduction for those wanting to grow their own food at home or further develop their skills for existing home and school gardens.

SPRING BREAK CAMPS 2020

Join us for a week of hands-on gardening, garden crafts, and activities. Get to know more about growing plants, food production, harvesting and using plant material while experiencing our many gardens at Horticulture Centre of the Pacific! This camp is great for the avid gardeners who cannot get enough time in the garden!

JMG SUMMER CAMPS 2020

Come grow with us! This dynamic program educates youth about horticulture, health, nutrition, environmental science, leadership and life skills using fun and creative activities. Flexibility is a key component of the JMG program that enables it to be adapted to meet the needs and interests of different individuals and organizations. It is perfectly suited to Afterschool Childcare Programs, 4-H, Home School groups, or any number of interest groups as a program enhancement. If you enjoyed the summer season of STORIES IN THE SHADE, this is our fall version, featuring seasonal and entertaining stories and garden wanders for preschoolers. Each week a new theme and story is planned around a garden adventure to explore and discover the many wonders in our gardens.
