Visiting the College

How many students are accepted in the Landscape Horticulture Certificate program?

PHC accepts up to a maximum of 22 students per class year.

What is the age range and demographics for the Landscape Horticulture Certificate program?

The age range is from 19 and upwards. The average age is early thirties. Students come from a wide range of backgrounds: education, service industry, graphic design, business and more. Some have vast experience in gardening and others are totally “green”.

Can PHC students apply for student loans?

Yes, students are eligible to apply for StudentAidBC funding.

Does PHC offer any additional funding options?

Only for enrolled students. Once enrolled in the program, small bursaries are available to students at the start of year. Small bursaries are also awarded at graduation at the end of the year. Other funding options may be available at WorkBC and through garden clubs.

I did not receive a C or higher grade in either Math 11 or English 11. What are my options?

PHC offers assessment tests on site for the PHC program only. Practice exams are also available. The assessment tests cost $40 and will be supervised by College staff. The assessment test is offered after the applicant has applied and completed their application package. This is scheduled with the College staff.

Is there on-site housing or residences available for students?

Accommodations are not available on site. Local housing options can be found on usedvictoria.com or Facebook Marketplace.

What learning and academic resources are available at PHC?

Aside from supportive college instructors and staff, PHC is unable to offer additional academic resources. It is the responsibility of the student to communicate their needs to the college staff in a timely manner and ultimately are responsible to locate any outside resources as needed (i.e. tutoring, time management skills, etc.).

If I did not take my Level 1 and 2 at PHC, can I still apply for Levels 3 and 4?

Absolutely. PHC is the only college to offer Level 3 and 4 on Vancouver Island. To take Level 3 and 4, Level 1 and 2 must be completed.

How do I obtain a copy of my transcript or graduation certificate from PHC?

Please contact the college to order your transcript and / or graduation certificate. Individually they cost $10 or $15 for both.
