Richard Wong – Professional Wildlife Artist and Instructor

Richard Wong is a professional wildlife artist in Victoria, BC. He teaches in-person watercolour classes at the Gardens and now will be offering online classes via zoom.
All Richard’s classes are relaxed, fun and fully supported. He offers safe classes for beginners who want to try watercolour for the first time or those wanting to learn more techniques. His online classes are a great option for those not able to participate in person and provides a safe option for families and households to come together, connect and do some painting.  Richard’s in-person watercolour on Japanese art paper classes have been very successful, selling out quickly.  We are pleased to note that Richard brings the same care and attention to his online classes.

In Person Class Attendee

“I would like to thank you once again for holding your excellent workshop at HCP last Sunday afternoon, “Gulls”. I thought it was conducted very well considering all of the restrictive COVID protocols, and it was comfortable to be in the classroom for the afternoon. (The three hours really flew by!). I feel like I reached a new understanding of using watercolours when you spoke of and demonstrated the “activation” of the paint. It was very helpful.” … Ryan Dow, Victoria, BC

From a Parent on a Community Facebook Page

“Thank you Richard Wong for your zoom watercolour class today my son (11) thoroughly enjoyed it as did his friend.  Looking forward to see what you offer next.  Really glad you posted here about the classes, it’s opened up the world of watercolours. – NS”

From Hamilton, Ontario

“Hi Richard!  Thanks so much for the class! I liked it so much, my family has decided we are going to chip in for my mom to get paints and paper etc and pay for a few classes with you. Normally they’d be heading south but not this year. So I figured, what a great way to have her do something creative, but also have my brother and sister (for their kids on board as well) – CR.”
