If you have successfully completed ITA Levels 1 and 2 in Landscape Horticulture, PHC offers the opportunity to further your education with Level 3 and Level 4 Landscape Horticulturist Technical Training Programs. These programs will prepare you to write the ITA provincial Level 3 exam and the inter-provincial Red Seal Exam in Landscape Horticulture. Levels 3 and 4 are offered full-time, 6 weeks per level, during the winter months. Each program includes both classroom and practical components.

FULL-TIME Level 4: November 1, 2021 to December 10, 2021 *

* Important: this Level 4 program is the final non-harmonized Level 4 program to be offered at PHC.

Admission Requirements:

Must be a registered and sponsored apprentice with the Industry Training Authority (ITA) in the Landscape Horticulturist trade. Must have successfully completed Levels 1, 2, and 3 of the apprenticeship program, or equivalent as approved by the ITA.

To apply for the program applicants are required to complete and submit the following:

Program Details: Full time; 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday

Program Fees: 

Application fee* – due with application $20.00

First tuition instalment – $600.00

Second tuition instalment – $600.00

*Application fee is non-refundable. A weekly interest charge of 8% will be applied to late fee payments.

Courses: Softscape Maintenance, Plant Identification, Green Infrastructure, Cultural Management of Trees, Plant Health, Turfgrass Management, Erosion Control, Organize Work, Preconstruction Activities, and Sales & Marketing.

 

This program does not require approval by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training. As such, PTIB did not review this program.

FULL-TIME Level 3: January 10, 2022 to February 18, 2022 

* Important: this Level 3 program is the new harmonized ITA curriculum.

An application for approval has been submitted to the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training. The submission is currently being reviewed and approval has not yet been received.

GAP TRAINING Program for Landscape Horticulturist Apprenticeship Training: February 1 – March 25, 2022

The Gap Training program transitions apprentices who completed their Level 2 prior to 2020 into the harmonized ITA curriculum. The Gap Training program is now required to move forward from Level 2 into Level 3 (and Level 4). To learn more from the ITA, visit https://www.itabc.ca/program/horticulturist-landscape.

Please note: Gap Training programs will be offered annually over the next few years as apprentices transition from the old curriculum to the harmonized curriculum.

March 21 – 25, 2022 (Full-Time and In-Person): Monday to Friday, 9 am – 4 pm.
