HCP COMMUNITY EDUCATION – COVID-19 SAFETY POLICY
In order to best protect the safety of everyone at HCP and adhere to provincial public health guidelines, we require that all community education participants and instructors follow the safety policies identified below for all on-site and off-site class related activities. Please respect individual decisions and precautions regarding COVID-19 and discuss any concerns with the community education coordinator – [email protected]

  • The room/outdoor space assigned for the class has been set up to accommodate physical distancing regulations. Please do not rearrange the furniture.
  • Maintain a minimum 6-foot (2 metre) distance from other individuals at all times, both outdoors (e.g. in the gardens and at off-site projects or field trips) and in various indoor spaces (e.g. classroom, office space). Please yield for others at doorways, entryways, and on garden paths.
  • Do not come to HCP if you feel unwell or have any cold or flu symptoms or have been exposed to anyone who has cold of flu symptoms. Also, do not come to HCP if you have traveled abroad within the last two weeks or have been exposed to anyone who has recently traveled abroad. Please contact the office as soon as possible if you cannot attend class for these reasons – tel: 250 479 6162.
  • Please wash your hands frequently for a minimum of 20 seconds and avoid touching your face.
  • Use the hand sanitizer available on site along with regular hand-washing. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance to the Gardens and in the class location.
  • Tables and chairs are wiped down with sanitizer before each class.
  • Please practice good respiratory hygiene by covering your coughs and sneezes with your elbow. Please use hand sanitizer or wash your hands if you have sneezed or blown your nose during class.
  • Face masks are required when you are not able to maintain physical distancing for indoor and outdoor classes.
  • Please discuss any safety concerns with your instructor and/or staff. Report any unsafe activities or conditions.
  • Violations of the policies described above will be handled accordingly and participants may be asked to leave the class if they are placing others at risk with their behavior.
