Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Landscape Horticulture Certificate Program should have the following qualifications:

  1. Grade 12 graduate or at least 19 years of age when classes begin.
  2. Grade 11 English and Math, with a minimum C Grade, or arrange for a Prior Learning Assessment by contacting the Pacific Horticulture College Director.
  3. In good health and physically fit.
  4. A genuine interest in and desire for a career in horticulture.
  5. Prepared to:
    1. attend and participate regularly in all class and program activities which include plant maintenance duties on some weekends (approximately 7 times throughout the school year);
    2. achieve a minimum 70% grades in all courses and 80% attendance of all scheduled classes and activities;
    3. complete all project work assigned.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the HCP Gardens, talk to the College Director or College Program Facilitator, gardeners, and students to learn more about the program.
  2. Submit all of the required application documentation:
    1. Application for Admission form [PDF]
    2. Official high school or post-secondary transcripts, or results from a prior learning assessment.
    3. A short letter stating your career objectives and your expectations upon graduation.
    4. A current resume.
    5. Two letters of reference (at least one from a previous employer or supervisor).
    6. A $20.00 non-refundable application fee.(Incomplete application forms/documentation will be returned.)
  3. Attend an interview either in person or over the telephone, upon invitation.
  4. If accepted, you are required to sign an enrolment contract. Once that contract is returned along with the $130 registration fee AND THE FIRST TUITION OF $270. your space is reserved in the program.
