Mandolin Summer Ensemble
The Victoria Mandolin Orchestra takes a summer break, but several members get together in the Summer Mandolin Ensemble. The Ensemble features a guitar and three mandolins to sweeten the air in the Takata Garden.
Last year, passer-by’s were moved to waltz to our lovely sounds. This year, chairs invite you to sit and enjoy our varied repertoire of folk, classical and dance tunes.
Julie Grannary is a singer and musician and is currently working as an Accredited Music Therapist at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. She provides individual and group music therapy services for seniors living in assisted care facilities. As part of her love of sharing music with others, she also plays music at community events.
The Dubious Brothers
The Dubious Brothers are Peter Dent and Kevin Ramsay. Kevin has a decade of experience as a solo performer and was previously a member of the acoustic quartet, The Chattering Class.
Peter is an accomplished jazz pianist and conducts several choirs in the Victoria area. Peter met Kevin while directing the Arion Male Voice Choir and, despite their difference in age, a fast friendship and brotherhood evolved through a shared love of music. The duo entertains with a variety of cover tunes originally sung by artists such as Johnny Cash, the Everly Bros, The Beatles, plus popular and obscure folk songs, original material, and much more.
Their passion for performing a wide compliment of songs from multiple genres and eras provides a very contagious, uplifting experience.
